The puppet packages on Opensuse 12.1 are broken...well not broken exactly
but slightly damaged. There is a problem report about it at
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=714649
which says that puppet uses /var/lock/subsys which is unsupported on
openSUSE.
Now as far as I can see there is a trivial 1-line fix, which is to edit the
startup scripts /etc/init.d/puppetmasterd
and /etc/init.d/puppet, replacing the lockfile location with one in
/var/run/puppet.
Is this the case, or does some other component expect the lock file to be
in that hard-coded place?
