Puppet users - Apr 2008 - Setting up PuppetShow - Puppet's Web Interface

Hello puppeters;

I want to set/test the PuppetShow "Puppet''s Web Interface"
with Ruby on
Rails (ROR). If somebody has setup such show, please share your experiece
with EXAMPLES...I''m not the programmer.so please share your STEPS....I
have
setup the ROR environment, currently learning Rails with different
frameworks....HOBO (http://hobocentral.net/) is great for starter and
I''m
trying to hack it for PuupetShow.

1. how to setup PuppetShow? (other than

code, how to implement at my own site.?
2. How to configure Sqlite3 to store/save puppet states, reports, graphs
into table, than later on display as webpages through Rails.?

WEBrick

Puppetshow actually already uses Hobo, so you''ll be able to jump right
in and customize it:

That page has a quick guide to getting it running.  Let me know if you  
have questions, and also feel free to edit the page and add whatever

well, GIT is not setup at my site, Blake Barnett please "locate" other
format, or path to get the code, so I can test/run the PuppetShow with all
the updates and required files.

Downloadable code format should be other GIT, I have not install/setup the
GIT environment, at the momemt I want to setup Quickly PuppetShow. so please
find other way (zip/tar/etc) to get download the Complete PuppetShow.

tab,I check"next"to vist the page 2,will get a error like this.

Could you please file a bug at http://reductivelabs.com/trac/ 
puppetshow, please include the error from production.log and/or  
mongrel.log in the log directory inside the app.

Please tell me any other way (DownLoadable) than GIT to GET the CODE of
PUPPETSHOW.!
Still I am Unable to GET the CODE of PuppetShow, GIT is currently NOT
installed, can someone put it something like:

sorry, but whats the problem about installing git on the server or on a
local machine, packing it there and push it then to the server?

maybe you could provide public tarballs?

yes Peter Meier, me looking for public tarballs........I just want to
quickly test/implment the tool, although try to setup GIT, but got
frustrated, running GIT behind the proxy, config errors, tht''s wil be

Despite the broken English which makes him sound like an ill manner
child( English is not your first language, correct soft developer).
The problem he is having is that for what ever policy reasons, he can
not get git running at his site and needs to get tarballs from
somewhere of the puppetshow code.  I believe git has a way of dumping
tarballs or at least setting an automated script to dump tarballs each
night some where should not be hard. I do think that making tarballs
available would increase user testing of the code.
 I know I would be more willing to test it with regular tarballs
instead of git. We already use SVN for version control. It is hard to
justify adding something like git for just one app if all you looking
to do isee if it is worth your time in using. Git may have a simple
client app, that I am unaware of. This would make my issue go away. It
may also help soft developer.

yes tried to setup git, got errors, but due to shortage of time to shoot
them, just leave for time being & asked for any other way to get the CODE,
what''s wrong there.?
