Hi guys, I''ve just checkout the puppetshow code, and I was looking for the setup.ppfile, but I cant find it anywhere.... anyone has an idea where should i look for it? (or what needs to be done?) You can likely still see the setup.pp in http://reductivelabs.com/svn/puppetshow. -- The brain is a wonderful organ. Thanks Luke, but I''m a bit lost, I''ve tried to set it up, however I''m getting all kind of MySQL errors, which I didn''t really know was needed.. is it possible to define the requirements for puppetshow, and for example, if MySQL is needed, is there a db schema, or what do i need to do to get it working (worst case point me to the right source file to look) Thanks! I think the only weird thing is that you''re *probably* better off starting the puppetmaster with --storeconfigs, because it will automatically handle the db schema stuff. Puppetmasterd defaults to sqlite3, but I think PuppetShow is set up to use mysql. You''ll have to modify config/database.yml to specify the db type you''re using; see the Rails docs for more info. -- Always behave like a duck - keep calm and unruffled on the surface but paddle like the devil underneath. -- Jacob Braude --------------------------------------------------------------------- Luke Kanies | http://reductivelabs.com | http://madstop.com
Hi Ohad, The sad state of documentation is mainly my fault, sorry. As soon as I''m able to work on it again, I''ll create an installation doc and hopefully make it work with the default configuration of storeconfigs to take some of the guesswork out of it. -Blake On 9/10/07, Ohad Levy <ohadlevy@gmail.com> wrote:> > Thanks Luke, > > but I''m a bit lost, I''ve tried to set it up, however I''m getting all kind > of MySQL errors, which I didn''t really know was needed.. > > is it possible to define the requirements for puppetshow, and for example, > if MySQL is needed, is there a db schema, or what do i need to do to get it > working (worst case point me to the right source file to look) > > Thanks! > Ohad > > On 9/10/07, Luke Kanies <luke@madstop.com> wrote: > > > > On Sep 10, 2007, at 8:48 AM, Ohad Levy wrote: > > > > > I''ve just checkout the puppetshow code, and I was looking for the > > > setup.pp file, but I cant find it anywhere.... anyone has an idea > > > where should i look for it? > > > (or what needs to be done?) > > > > Looks like the ''setup.pp'' file was for the old version of puppetshow, > > and Blake has since rewritten it from scratch. [puppetmasterd] storeconfigs = true dbadapter = mysql dbserver = puppet.master.server dbname = puppetdb dbuser = puppetdbuser dbpassword = puppetdbuserpass Ally you really have to do is fire up a the database, all the tables and such get created automagically (yay rails). You don´t need the "dbadapter" parameter as that is only used by sqlite3.> -- > Always behave like a duck - keep calm and unruffled on the surface but > paddle like the devil underneath. -- Jacob Braude > --------------------------------------------------------------------- > Luke Kanies | http://reductivelabs.com | http://madstop.com > > > _______________________________________________ > Puppet-users mailing list > Puppet-users@madstop.com > https://mail.madstop.com/mailman/listinfo/puppet-users >
