Xeon CPU and ATLAS
I am about to get a new machine at work - an IBM Intellistation with the Xeon 2.8 GB processor. It will run Windows 2000. I would like to install the proper ATLAS dll for this machine, but I am not sure if Xeon is P4? Does anybody have any experience with Xeon? Thanks in advance, Andy __________________________________ Andy Jaworski 518-1-01 Process Laboratory 3M Corporate Research Laboratory

Dumb question about a Xeon Procesor
Sorry to ask here but never used a Xeon before. Tomorrow i need to install Centos 4.3 on a Quad Xeon (not dual core). Xeon is a 32 bit or 64 bit system? I already have centos 4.3 x86_64 on a Dvd and im not sure if i need to download another ISO or can I use the one i have? Again, sorry to ask. -- ------------------------------------------------------------ Erick Perez

Dual Opteron or Dual Xeon?
I am about to lease another server to be a backup web/mail server with a replicated mysql database. The current live server is a dual Xeon 2.8Ghz. Would I do better to get another Xeon server or an Opteron based server? My concerns are compatibility of the database and the SSL certificate currently running on the Xeon machine. Are these concerns unfounded? TIA Mike

Xen 3.4.2 DomU Network Issues
I''ve got a new system with Dual Quad Core Intel E5520 processors and Intel 82576 NICs built on the motherboard (this is a Supermicro Nehalem based blade). I''m running Xen 3.4.2, but I''ve also tried 3.4.1 and had the same problem. Dom0''s network works flawlessly, but the DomU systems all have network issues. Whenever they transmit large packets, it is as if

CentOS 4.3 on Intel Xeon Core 2 Duo
Dear list, I am planning to buy a new server -because the new Core2 Duo based Xeons (5100 series) are considerably faster in some scenarios than Opteron machines while not beeing more expensive, I would like to hear some real-world experiences from people who have installed CentOS 4.3 or 4.4 on such a setup. Specifically: CPU: 2x Intel Xeon 5100 2GHz Board: Intel S5000 chi...

Which g729 module for HP DL 360 G3 (Xeon CPU's)?
I am running a HP DL360 G3 ans want to know the optimal g729 module for it. There don't seem to be any optimised for Xeon's. I am currently using i686, but is there a better one to match my Xeon CPU's? CentOS 4.4 smp on Dual Quad Core Xeon
I'm booting the default kernel on a dual quad core Xeon machine. I only see four CPUs and I expect to see 8. Do I have to build a custom kernel? Is there a switch or configuration parameter I need to set? Thanks, Jerry -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Hi, Stop me If I am wrong but DELL 1855 aren''t shipped with Dual Core Xeons .... So you shouldn''t have any VT support on your server. which server to buy?
Hello! Please, help me, I''m totally lost choosing basic budget server for XEN. The variants are Sun (X2200 M2 or Sun X2250 M2) or maybe HP Proliant DL160 G5p. Or maybe some IBM server? Which X2200 configuration will perform better, two Opteron dual-core 22xx or single quad-core 23xx? Which one performing better nowadays, Opteron or Xeon? I know that 2-3 years ago Opteron was the

CPU for Dovecot
Hi, we are planning to change hardware for our standalone Dovecot instance handling ~5800 IMAP users with 1TB mailboxes on local RAID. Is there some recommendation about CPU? We can choose from: - Intel Xeon E5-2620v4 - 2,1GHz at 8,0GT 20MB cache, 8core, HT, 85W, LGA2011 - Intel Xeon E5-2623v4 - 2,6GHz at 8,0GT 10MB cache, 4core, HT, 85W, LGA2011 The difference is about more cores vs. hi

any VT-d enabled mobos for Xeon 5000 series out there ?
Hi list, i have seen a lot of questions about VT-d on recent intel mobos. however, it seems that all tests are done on the newer socket 775-based xeon''s or core2''s, and not the 5000 series (socket 771 based). i was planning on getting a intel S5000V chipset, but found out that it does not support VT-d. Can anyone confirm a mobo that has this enabled and also has 2x LGA771

xeon processor and ATLAS
hi everyone: I have a Dell Server that has a Xeon processor, and I would like to use the best ATLAS posted in the R website. I find that R has ATLAS for core2duo and P4. I am not sure which one of these two is best suited for Xeon processor, or is that neither of these two is good and I should stick with the default one that was installed originally? Your advice is very much appreciated! Best,

Opteron vs Xeon?
Hi I'm setting up a SIP gateway, serving quite a few potential users, and I wonder if I should purchase a Opteron or Xeon based system. Xeon has it's HT, but is it worth it? Has anyone tested Opteron on asterisk? Does it work well? There'll be no transcoding in this system - G.711A all way through roy
