openssh unix dev - Oct 2001 - cross compiling openssh?

hi folks

just wondering what's the official position on cross compiling openssh. 
it's
not supported now AFAICT, and i didn;t see much history on the topic in the list
archives.

is cross compilation support planned anytime soon?  if not, what's involved
(technically or otherwise) in making it happen?
