[Bug 3240] New: Support XDG basedir specification
https://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3240 Bug ID: 3240 Summary: Support XDG basedir specification Product: Portable OpenSSH Version: 8.4p1 Hardware: Other OS: Linux Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: P5 Component: Miscellaneous Assignee: unassigned-bugs at mindrot.org Reporter: sir at cmpwn.com Opening a new bug after 2050 was closed: https://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2050 This is a valid request from a large group of users over tens of years. Several arguments in favor have been forwarded, and every argument against refuted. Quit shutting down the discussion. Retroactively defending the obscenely prolonged absence of this feature to save face is not an acceptable way to handle bug reports. Your rebuke of this feature is endemic of the typical anti-social behavior of BSD and one of the marks of a badly behaved group of maintainers. You need to knock it off. In summary, this feature is sorely overdue. Vague concerns of security implications have been shown to be hollow. A migration path which does not impact existing users has been laid out. This feature needs to be added to OpenSSH, and it needed to be added 8 years ago. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching the assignee of the bug.
