Hi everybody, Today I tried the latest Solaris on Xen build. I downlaoded all files and created the iso. Then I wanted to run setup_install_server , but this failed: bash-3.00# ./setup_install_server /export/sol_xen/ -bash: ./setup_install_server: cannot execute binary file -bash-3.00# So I create a tar file to copy over all files to export/sol_xen/ Then I tried to start and install via jumpstart, using my main "initial jumpstart configuration". Install succeeded although I got some strange warnings during install: X_small.cpio.bz2 is not a bzip2 file: file ./Tools/Boot/X_small.cpio.bz2 ./Tools/Boot/X_small.cpio.bz2: data bunzip2 X_small.cpio.bz2 bunzip2: X_small.cpio.bz2 is not a bzip2 file. On the first server (Asus barebone Pundit P3-Ph4) I did the install, the system was booting correctly after install but no ip address was assigned via DHCP on my E1000g0 interface. Also A s soon I enabled the xen kernel in menu.lst and rebooted my system a kernel back trace was all I got ... Booting in save mode did work ... I had the same behavior on a second system (this system hosts a melanox IB card), but this time the system was panicking all the time just after logging in ... , so I wasn''t able to enable to modify menu.lst to use the xen kernel ... Any idea what is going on? Is my iso corrupt? Should I just start downloading again? Any help is appreciated. Krdoor This message posted from opensolaris.org
Hi, I''m going to install Xen on my Ubuntu Linux Notebook to host a Solaris DomU. Which version of Xen should I install in the Dom0? 3.0.4 or the current one (I think it''s 3.1)? regards Bernd -- Bernd Schemmer, Frankfurt am Main, Germany http://home.arcor.de/bnsmb/index.html M s temprano que tarde el mundo cambiar . The fact it''s saying setup_install_server is a binary file makes me suspect your image is corrupt. # file ./setup_install_server give you? it should be an executeable shell script what does sum? I get 63326 55 setup_install_server Have you verified the checksums of the parts you downloaded?
