[Ocfs2-users] Issues backing up files on OCFS2 file system
Hi, I have Oracle cluster ware OCR files and regular Linux files and directories on a OCFS2 file system, HP Data Protector somehow stated OCFS2 is not a supported file system as part of the backup solution. I wonder if anyone has experience how to backup files on OCFS2 to tapes please? I would think that regular files and directories stored on OCFS2 can be backup as normal Linux files and dir. OS version is RHEL 4 update 3 ocfs2console-1.2.4-1 ocfs2-2.6.9-34.ELsmp-1.2.5-1 ocfs2-tools-1.2.4-1 Any suggestion will be appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

[Ocfs2-users] Issues backing up files on OCFS2 file system
We have used netbackup - backing up like any other FS. We have also verified restoring files from OCFS2 onto EXT3 and EXT3 on to OCFS2 @ Allan Lee wrote:> Hi, > I have Oracle cluster ware OCR files and regular > Linux files and directories on a OCFS2 file system, > HP Data Protector somehow stated OCFS2 is not a > supported file system as part of the backup solution. > > I wonder if anyone has experience how > to backup files on OCFS2 to tapes please? > I would think that regular files and directories stored on OCFS2 > can be backup as normal Linux files and dir. > > OS version is RHEL 4 update 3 > ocfs2console-1.2.4-1 > ocfs2-2.6.9-34.ELsmp-1.2.5-1 > ocfs2-tools-1.2.4-1 > > Any suggestion will be appreciated. > > Many thanks in advance. > > _______________________________________________ > Ocfs2-users mailing list > Ocfs2-users@oss.oracle.com > http://oss.oracle.com/mailman/listinfo/ocfs2-users >-- Aaron Thompson Applications Administrator / Database Administrator http://www.uni.edu/~prefect/ University of Northern Iowa "All it takes to fly is to hurl yourself at the ground... and miss." -Douglas Adams

Thank you for all the replies, much appreciated.>I use NetVbackup - no any problems noticed.>(But I don't run heavy load on OCFS and make daily copy to the local disk).----- Original Message ----- From: "Aaron Thompson" <aaron.thompson at uni.edu <http://oss.oracle.com/mailman/listinfo/ocfs2-users>> To: "Allan Lee" <Allan.Lee at mobilecohesion.com <http://oss.oracle.com/mailman/listinfo/ocfs2-users>> Cc: <ocfs2-users at oss.oracle.com <http://oss.oracle.com/mailman/listinfo/ocfs2-users>> Sent: Wednesday, August 15, 2007 12:16 PM Subject: Re: [Ocfs2-users] Issues backing up files on OCFS2 file system>/ We have used netbackup - backing up like any other FS.
