[Nut-upsuser] HP R12000/3 UPS reports status as OL DISCHRG OB
Hi. Back before Christmas Arnaud sent me a patch for the snmp-ups driver for my HP R12000/3 UPS. Unfortunately shortly after I had to take quite a lot of sick leave so wasn't able to progress it, but I'm working on it again now. I'm at the point where I can start the driver with upsdrvctl and start the daemon with upsd. When I check the UPS status though it shows as OL DISCHRG OB, which can't be right (it should just be OL). Any suggestions? Console output attached. Chris. When I check the UPS status though it shows as OL DISCHRG OB, which can?t be right (it should just be OL).Please send the debug output from starting the snmp-ups driver directly (rather than through upsdrvctl). That should explain why the driver is getting those particular status bits. Bonus points if you can show the output for both online as well as on-battery conditions, although I recognize that can be difficult if the UPS is in production use. -- Charles Lepple clepple at gmail

Hi Charles. Debug output attached. As you suspected, this is a fairly large 3-phase UPS running a range of live kit, so removing the supply is not an option. Chris. I checked around for this, and didn't find a good definition, but that seems to match the OL state. The second one seems specific to the battery: static info_lkp_t cpqpower_battery_abm_status[] = { { 1, "CHRG" }, { 2, "DISCHRG" }, /* { 3, "Floating" }, */ /* { 4, "Resting" }, */ /* { 5, "Unknown" }, */ { 0, "NULL" } } ; I could see the battery monitoring circuit discharging the battery occasionally for maintenance, but is there a separate front-panel indicator for this mode? The third one is CPQPOWER_OID_ALARM_OB. This definitely doesn't make sense, since things with "alarm" in the name are usually pretty direct. The big question in my mind is, where did the NUT definitions come from? Did your UPS come with a CD that might contain a SNMP MIB definition file? Or is there an area on the HP support site? (All I saw was a firmware update .EXE)
