I guess they decided that it was better to ship nothing at all. I have no idea why they did it, but if I had to guess, I'd say that's because most of their customers don't really care. For three main reasons: 1. most medium/large datacenters have a small number of large UPSes with generator backups, so NUT is rather pointless; 2. the datacenter has a big UPS and no generator backup, and people find their 60 minute runtime enough and don't bother to configure a large number of machines with NUT, especially since their distribution of choice would force them to compile from source; 3. they just don't know about the existence of NUT, and continue to use the suck-ass software from the UPS vendor, which normally eats half their systems memory with its java-based daemon. -- Carlos Rodrigues
