I'd like to backport this change to Testing as well. Intermittent
startup problems for this driver keep on coming back on the nut-upsuser
mailing list and I'd really like to be able to see why. This driver is
used by a wide variety of UPSes and it could be that there are small
variations in what they return. In that case, we need to have more info.

fine for me since it doesn't impact already supported devices.
