The problem appeared when I upgraded to the 3.7 kernel.

I have to specify 'nouveau.noaccel=1' otherwise X is not reached.

There's no problem visible in your dmesg now. Could you please post your
dmesg
output when acceleration is not disabled?

I'd be willing to, but:
- The screen is garbled with and without acceleration.
- When acceleration is disabled, the boot process interrupts: I can't
  read anything though and I don't know how to get debug informations
  under those circumstances...

If you compile nouveau as a module, you will probably be able to get it from
/var/log.

Tried again with Linux 3.8.3: I could boot without `nomodeset` but the pointer
icon, in X, was cropped. On the next reboot the screen was garbled again.

Please supply a kernel log for a recent kernel, without nomodeset or noaccel
(i.e. a boot that exhibits the issue).

Potentially relevant -- also make sure you have a recent DDX
(xf86-video-nouveau).
