[LLVMdev] Compiler Centric Career Opportunities in finance
Hi -- I'm working with a number of finance companies in New York City and Chicago which are looking to develop languages and platforms in order to process extremely large datasets. As such, we are looking for people with experience and / or interest in programming language and compiler design -- hence my posting on the LLVM mailing list. Goldman Sachs most famously developed Slang and SecDB more than 20 years ago -- Slang is essentially a scripting language based on Scheme (functional) which has added a number of object oriented features. SecDB is columnar database similar to APL / K / Q. http://bit.ly/eVJpQY Obviously there have been some changes in computer science in the last 20 years! As such, many of these groups are taking advantage of new(er) technologies including Map Reduce / Pig / MongoDB / Hadoop / Python / Haskell / OCaml / C++. In order to best utilize these technologies and create new platforms, we are looking for people who have strong experience with compiler theory – especially folks who are not tied to one framework. We are also looking for folks with e experience building compilers for functional, logical or dataflow languages. Experience with LLVM or gnu is essential. I am recruiting for not just Goldman Sachs, but several other banks and hedge funds that are seeking to imitate Goldman's approach. These clients are located both in Chicago and New York City. The appeal of working with these groups is the opportunity to work in a research and development environment with extremely technical developers and excellent compensation. You would not be anywhere close to screaming traders on the trading floor :) If anyone would be interested in speaking in more detail with me -- feel free to reach out to me at my contact details below. Also, feel free to forward my contact details to anyone who might be interested. Thanks for letting me post this here. ------------------------------------- John Keenan Technical Recruiter Continuity Partners Inc. 245 5th Avenue 22nd Floor New York, NY 10016 tel: 212-213-2220 x103 cell: 646-246-7070 www.cpi-search.com http://www.linkedin.com/in/johnkeenan ------------------------------------- View our current job openings! http://www.cpi-search.com/openings.php Check us out on Twitter! www.twitter.com/ContinuityJobs -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... However, if the job is specifically LLVM related, it is welcome, just make this clear in the post. -Chris -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
