Hello , I tried a simple test as follow : I used vmware software to set up 3 virtual linux computers . The middle computer act as a router (rip protocol ) using zebra software . I used iperf-1.7.0 to generate traffic from linux computer 1 to linux computer 3 . At router ( egress side ) I setup a simple qdisc as follow : tc qdisc add dev eth1 root handle 1: tbf rate 0.5 mbit burst 5kb latency 50ms and generate traffic as below: Iperf -c linux3 -u -b 0.1m -w 128k and the result is : Client connecting ...., udp .. Sending 1470 byte datagrams UDP buffer size : 128 Kbyte ( WARNING: reqested 128 KByte ) Local ... port.. connected with ... Interval Tranfer Bandwidth 0.0 - 10.2sec 125 KBytes 100 kbits/sec Server Report : 0.0 - 2.0 sec 125 KBytes 516 Kbits/sec 94.576ms (latency) 0/ 87 (0%) (loss) Sent 87 datagrams I dont know : Why interval time at client is : 0.0 10.2 sec while at server is only 0.0 2.0 sec ( bandwidth of server side much biger than client side and if I generate traffic at 0.5 mbit the loss very high although tbf qdisc has rate parameter is 0.5 mbit ) Could you explain to me ? Thanks you very much!
