Icecast - Jan 2008 - Where can I get a downloadable stream directory?

Hi,

 

I?m working in an application that connects to Icecast servers. I assume
that there is no legal issues regarding  this because everything is free
here. What I don?t know is how to get a stream directory. There is one at
icecast.org, it?s OK to get it from there? Any other sources? Thanks.

Hi,

I'm pretty sure there is a way to get listings from the Icecast YP 
directory.

A couple of resources of interest.  Oddsock has a Winamp Media LIbrary 
plugin for listing available stations at 
http://www.oddsock.org/tools/ml_icecastlist

He usually makes sources available but I don't see any source links.  Maybe 
it's in the .exe file?  Anyway the sources may give you a clue.

A better place to get a clue might be the code for the YP server itself. 
I don't recall ever seeing any releases, but you can get the code from 
http://svn.xiph.org/trunk/icecast2yp/

And now that I read the ReadMe there, I see that the URL you want is 
http://dir.xiph.org/yp.xml
