Gluster users - May 2011 - how not to use NFS?

After I start glusterd, I can see the following process:

/opt/glusterfs/3.1.4/sbin/glusterfs -f /etc/glusterd/nfs/nfs-server.vol 
-p /etc/glusterd/nfs/run/nfs.pid -l /var/log/glusterfs/nfs.log


Is it necessary to start it by default? I don't need to use NFS with 
glusterfs, and didn't even configure it.

Good point. This is the default file name and log names it uses when
you start gluster. This doesn't mean its using nfs :) It's just the
wrong name that makes you think it's using nfs for some reason.

If you don't want to export the volume through NFS, you can disable it 
using:

#gluster volume set <VOLNAME> nfs.disable on
