What would be required is support for ogg/flac in the streaming client (and
perhaps in the server, depending on how sophisticated it is), by linking
with libFLAC.  The ogg libraries do not, and should not, know anything about
FLAC.

Icecast2 should be fine - in this respect, it''s deliberately dumb, so
it doesn''t need to know about the details of what the ogg encapsulates.
However, a) there may be bugs, or b) the way the flac-ogg stuff works
may not be what icecast2 expects.

Then you need source support (adding this to ices2 shouldn''t be too
hard, it just needs something to figure out timing), and client support
(getting support into lots of clients is, obviously, really hard).

after the disccusion in vorbis-dev i''m not sure for what ogg/flac is
good. i thought the tagging could be done with standard ogg tools.

and if flac is not integrated in the ogg libs, ogg/flac is for the most
people a corrupt ogg file, because the player cannot read it.

would it be possible to add flac support to the ogg libaries?

i would like to stream ogg/flac files over an icecast2 / jroar server
