Ext3 users - Nov 2001 - ext3 on md0

Is it safe to use ext3 on a md0 device on 2.2.19?? 2.4.x??

Definitely not OK on 2.2.x
Should be OK on 2.4.x - there are reports of people doing so on the list
(with differing degrees of problems).

On 2.2, it's only safe on raid0/linear.  raid1 and raid5 are not safe.

On 2.4, ext3 over any md raid should be fine.

I've been using ext3 on md0 since 2.4.4 (IIRC) and havn't ever had
any problems - though I never really stressed it too much - I was
just playing with spare partitions and various filing systems - normally
I was just running mp3s/oggs off it rather than any really intensive
filesystem stuff.

Never had a problem myself though.
