Hi, My question is about D-Light tool in Sun Studio. Is D-Light tool a alpha project that I can wait for, or else is only a plugin for Sun''s internal testing with DTrace and Sun Studio? I really love this tool and I am very excited for the potential in this tool -ala MacOSX ''Instruments''- in OpenSolaris development / testing. IMHO this project can serve us in NetBeans too, nor the NB DTrace plugins(that its good), but not in the same way as D-Light. Thank you and sorry for my poor english :) -- This message posted from opensolaris.org

I really love this tool and I am very excited for the potential in this tool -ala MacOSX ''Instruments''- in OpenSolaris development / testing. It is surely not for internal testing. Quite contrary we believe it will be quite widely used. For now it is available as a part of SunStudio and you can access it in recently pushed Sun Studio Express (you may call it a beta quality product).> > IMHO this project can serve us in NetBeans too, nor the NB DTrace plugins(that its good), but not in the same way as D-Light.As for Netbeans - technologically this tool is quite tied to SunStudio internals (performance analyzer machinery). So I would not expect it to be available as a standalone plugin any soon. Though I''m not a DLight developer. regards, Fedor.

This is definitely appreciated.> IMHO this project can serve us in NetBeans too, nor the NB DTrace plugins(that its good), but not in the same way as D-Light.There''s been quite a few discussions around making D-Light available as a NB plugin. From a technical standpoint, this is doable. The question is all about prioritization. Stay tuned for more. Now, of course, the biggest payback from D-Light is on platforms that implement DTrace, so even if it becomes a NB plugin don''t expect it to be of much use on something like Windows. Thanks, Roman Shaposhnik (Team D-Light).
