libnss_wins crashing Firefox/Iceweasel?
...ure the following using gdb on Iceweasel: Program received signal SIGBUS, Bus error. [Switching to Thread -1288709200 (LWP 28528)] 0xb1a98309 in toupper_w () from /lib/libnss_wins.so.2 Ironically I've had libnss_mdns cause a crash like this in Samba before, so maybe this is just Samba getting payback. ;) Any ideas? Is this a Samba or Iceweasel bug? Should I submit it to Debian? Has anyone else seen this? Thanks! Michael Schurter

centos friends?
...I installed CentOS on some machines I administer for non-profit groups in Canada. The lack of licencing fees makes a big difference to them, non-profits groups are perpetuually long on brains and short on cash. But even so I think we could cough up, say, ten bucks a year per machine to put some payback into CentOS. Given general widespread goodwill this might be multiplied significantly. I have not seen this discussed on the list and would be happy to know if there is some reason it hasn't been attempted. Please let me repeat, this is meant as a constructive suggestion, there is no probl...

RPart Simple Diagram issues
...ryone, So I am looking for a way to create a decision tree for a modeling class and I am not all that familiar with R. I thought I might be able to use RPart, but I can't get it to work. I want a simple tree with a parent that says the amount and each child has a percentage of likelyhood and a payback so it would look something like this... _____10%/1000 100|_____90%/0 So I tried to do this by creating a table (again remember I am new) >test <- matrix(c(000000.1,000000.9,1000,0,.1*1000, .9*0), ncol=2, byrow=TRUE) >colnames(test) <- c("Case A", "Case B")...

Dock-n-talk connection to asterisk
Hi Mike FOr a home solln, $1000 isnt overly cost effective and the payback period for myself would be too long. The technology is interesting and as everyone says, its **supposed** to work but I hate being the guinea pig. The dock-n-talk is interesting and supposedly it does work ok, the signalling for hangup is poor and not sure how that will work. I've got a few...

Re: Stuck. Extenions.conf? Realtime? MySQL?
...won't. You are writing a complex application that requires the integration of multiple 3rd party technologies, this is bound to be a frustrating experience. On the other hand this is what most commercial software development projects are like and most of them get there in the end so if the payback is worth it hang on in there. -- Nic

D-Light tool
Hi, My question is about D-Light tool in Sun Studio. Is D-Light tool a alpha project that I can wait for, or else is only a plugin for Sun''s internal testing with DTrace and Sun Studio? I really love this tool and I am very excited for the potential in this tool -ala MacOSX ''Instruments''- in OpenSolaris development / testing. IMHO this project can serve us in NetBeans

OT - How to stream a A-Law/wav file to a browser ?
Hi, How can I create a web page allowing people to listen (with their own PC) a couple of .wav/a-law files stored on a Linux server ? Chances are users would access this web page from Internet Explorer but if I could make it available to other browsers, that would be better. I googled a bit and couldn't find a tag such as media://myaudiofile.wav that would fulfill this spec. As much as

repost - Can one edit the file that generates the scaffolding.css?
I am reposting this because not only am I VERY interested in the answer but because I think it would also be useful to many, many people. We kind of have a house-style here, so it would be nice if the generated scaffold.css would accommodate that. My questions are? Is it possible? Is it safe? How? bruce

Planning "hotel" phone system - Need input
Ok, I'm working on an implementation of Asterisk to service approximately 50 fractional (read: timeshare) residences. Basically what I'm starting with is a hotel phone system, but with additional functionality that Asterisk can provide. From the end user's perspective, I want the exact same functionality as the Telco provides (Caller ID, visual message waiting, etc) with a few
