I was fooling around the /var/run/dovecot directory and I noticed a lot of stale auth-worker.xxxxx sockets, probably left there by unexpected termination of old versions of Dovecot. Just to know who does what, have I to clean up the stale sockets, or a future version of Dovecot will get rid of this unused sockets?
