crossbow discuss - Apr 2008 - Add or replace module under ip instances

I would like to add support for a new  module under IP Instances.  The ip
instances feature does not seem to be designed with extension in mind so I
expect that I will need to reuse the support provided for an existing module. 
(e.g. reuse NS_IPF).    Any problem with using NS_IPF for my own module if I
make provisions to block the installation of ipf?

Was some other approach to support of new modules under ip instances intended?
