thats most assuredly not true.?? HD manufacturing is extremely 
competitive, there's no WAY they 'are built at the same place'. Each
of
the few remaining major brands of HD's has their own processes, their 
own factories and keeps their technology very closely guarded.

Fully agree. And I even have my beloved manufacturer (whose drives have
failure rate almost and order of magnitude lower that others).

You are correct and I was way out on hyperbole on my comment. I was
aiming for going over the consolidation of brands where low-end drives
are made at the same place and rebadged to different vendors and took
it to the extreme.
