Has anyone else tried to use CentOS 4 with a Dell Remote Access Card? The 2.6 kernel doesn''t like the way RAC card intercepts the keyboard commands (but doesn''t emulate a full keyboard) resulting in no input via the remote console. After searching google, some people have suggesting passing i8042.dumbkdb=1, however, this results in input such as "roooooooottttt" when trying to type. Anyone have any other suggestions on how to get my remote console working with CentOS 4 and a 2.6 kernel? Thanks, M. Gamble
Hello Matthew, I''ve recently been experiencing something similar via my Belkin KVM/IP solution and CentOS/WBEL 3.4 These all used to work fine until I did the upgrades to the latest versions and kernels, then suddenly putting the KVM in the link seems to mess things up. I haven''t sought any solutions yet. -- Best regards, Mickael mailto:mike@kamloopsbc.com Monday, March 7, 2005, 7:45:15 AM, you wrote: MMG> Has anyone else tried to use CentOS 4 with a Dell Remote Access Card? Has anyone figured out why KVM''s are disliking Centos 3.4 and 4.0? My older systems are still working fine through the same KVM, but the ones I''ve updated are flaky at best. -- Best regards, Mickael mailto:mike@kamloopsbc.com Monday, March 7, 2005, 8:01:10 AM, you wrote: MM> Hello Matthew, MM> I''ve recently been experiencing something similar via my Belkin KVM/IP MM> solution and CentOS/WBEL 3.4 MM> These all used to work fine until I did the upgrades to the latest MM> versions and kernels, then suddenly putting the KVM in the link seems MM> to mess things up. Can you test it with a FC3 machine as well? I have a Dell Dimension 4100 (p3-933?) running FC3 that utterly dislikes the Belkin KVM (PS/2) after upgrading to kernel 2.6. I have to keep a second mouse plugged into it -- using the KVM causes it to "randomly switch" the kind of mouse X thinks is attached, it''s really obscure. -te Mickael Maddison wrote:> Has anyone figured out why KVM''s are disliking Centos 3.4 and 4.0? What I had to do for my kvm after going to 2.6 kernel and a ps/2 intellemouse was add this to grub psmouse.proto=imps On Thu, 2005-03-10 at 13:51 -0800, Troy Engel wrote:> Can you test it with a FC3 machine as well? Everything is fine with a two button mouse, but if you use a three button or wheel mouse, the Belkin KVM switches the mouse type when you connect to another display and come back again. I have sometimes been able to get X to behave with a Belkin KVM if I just configure X to think it has a two button mouse attached. I have been able to use an Avocent KVM with no problem. Dave
Hello David, If I set the mouse to ''none'' or shut down the gpm since I''m not using X, just straight text console, maybe that''ll help. -- Best regards, Mickael mailto:mike@kamloopsbc.com Thursday, March 10, 2005, 2:40:19 PM, you wrote: DC> Troy Engel wrote:>> Can you test it with a FC3 machine as well? To respond to my own post - I''ve gone through and used mouseconfig to change the mouse to NONE and reset the KVM for each affected machine. As it stands, it now appears to be working normally. -- Best regards, Mickael mailto:mike@kamloopsbc.com Thursday, March 10, 2005, 10:27:00 PM, you wrote: MM> Hello David, MM> If I set the mouse to ''none'' or shut down the gpm since I''m MM> not using X, just straight text MM> console, maybe that''ll help.
