[Centos] intel i810_audio driver centos compatibility
hi all, i also have the same problem. when i try the sound card detection, it gives the following message. vendor Intel Corp. model 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) AC'97 Audio Controller module i810_audio. The i810_audio driver could not be loaded. This soundcard may not be compatible with CentOS. thanks for any help chaitanya. --- qsm <qsm at easy-technologies.com> wrote:> i installed CentOS (and WBEL too) on a notebook > gateway m520 and all work > fine, but when i try to use the sound the notebook > freeze. > > the soundcard is an intel i810_audio. > > somebody can help me, pls? > > PD: my english is no good.... :) > _______________________________________________ > CentOS mailing list > CentOS at caosity.org > http://lists.caosity.org/mailman/listinfo/centos >__________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? My laptop (HP ZD7000 series) has a problem with kernel audio. On my machine, I believe there is a conflict between the network hardware and the sound card which results in a locked-up computer. After some troubleshooting, I found that deleting the kernel sound modules causes the problem to away. Of course, so does the sound.... So, I payed a few dollars and installed the sound driver from OpenSound (http://www.opensound.com/). That fixed the lockups and I now have sound. The one hassle with this fix is that I have to remember to delete the kernel sound modules everytime I upgrade the kernel. Failure to do so results in a locked up computer.
