[asterisk-users] What alternatives to Asterisk based virtual PBX?
Hi, I've been asked to put together a quote for a system which basically will be a virtual PBX based on Asterisk with some IVR's and a whole bunch of GotoIfTime's. There will be one incoming DID via SIP, user gets dropped in to an IVR and then depending on the option they choose, *and* the time of day & day of month, it will make an outbound call to a cellphone. Normally this system is handled by somebody taking the calls manually 24 hours per day and then calling out the necessary person who is on call. I was planning on renting a root server to do this with, maybe ?30 ($50) per month, something like a 2Ghz Celeron with 256mb, 100mb/s connectivity etc. I could use the box for other projects in future? Are there other alternatives to Asterisk for this kind of work? Are there commercially available 'boxes' that do this kind of thing? Is this the kind of service you can go and speak to your telco and have them setup? Before I quote for the system, my time and maintenance I want to know what else is available out there. many thanks Mike

Mike best to do it yourself so you can make moves and changes as you see fit "on demand" rather than relying on a carrier to be available in a mid afternoon rush etc. Also means that you can deliver calls to your system from pstn or maybe a 1800 voip service etc or even multiple locations within the USA(overseas office maybe?) Of course you may also want to connect a Mexuar Corraleta service as well, no carrier in the world can give you that at the moment :) Regards, Dean Collins Cognation> -----Original Message-----> From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-> bounces@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of Mike Dent> Sent: Wednesday, 11 October 2006 5:04 PM> To: Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion> Subject: [asterisk-users] What alternatives to Asterisk based virtual PBX?>> Hi,> I've been asked to put together a quote for a system which basically> will be a virtual PBX based on Asterisk with some IVR's and a whole> bunch of GotoIfTime's.>> There will be one incoming DID via SIP, user gets dropped in to an IVR> and then depending on the option they choose, *and* the time of day &> day of month, it will make> an outbound call to a cellphone.>> Normally this system is handled by somebody taking the calls manually> 24 hours per day and then calling out the necessary person who is on> call.>> I was planning on renting a root server to do this with, maybe ?30> ($50) per month,> something like a 2Ghz Celeron with 256mb, 100mb/s connectivity etc. I> could use the box for other projects in future?>> Are there other alternatives to Asterisk for this kind of work?
