GUI that supports virtual PBX's/users
A friend of mine runs a small office building, 10-15 tenants. Each have their own company, their own thing, renting space from him. His main PBX is getting dated and his tenants are complaining. I was telling him about Asterisk but his main concern is he doesn't want to have to always be the one to add/remove extensions, or change the IVR hours or whatever. Does anybody know of a free or

Virtual PBX (*)
Hi, I have received some replies for my previous mail (* configuration), asking for my goals in configuring Asterisk. So here they are: We are planning to host an Inter continental virtual PBX service that will enable our users to register for an account which give them a toll-free # or a DID. Once registered using a web based interface, that user can add as manay extensions he/she wants

IAX Java Softphone?
Does anyone know of an IAX softphone in Java, whether applet or application? Even the most minimum featureset, just voice and dialing, or even embedded in some other app/let. Preferably GPL. Thanks. -- (C) Matthew Rubenstein

Feature Request: GotoIfTimeWithOffset
Hi, When I was testing an IVR, I realized I miss a function I would call GotoIfTimeWithOffset. Today, this IVR is using function AEL GotoIfTime in several places. The problem is if it's 11pm at the moment I'm testing this IVR, I can't nicely test the 9am or 2pm branch. GotoIfTimeWithOffset would get 2 incoming arguments : - the first is a time range (just like GotoIfTime), - the

Embedded Asterisk
I caught a thread the other day concerning Astricon and users embedding Asterisk on a Linksys or Netgear broadband router. I lost track of the email thread, if anyone is presently working with this scenario please shoot me an email. dial out and message playback
Hi, In a normal PBX environment a user usually calls in and IVR's are played according to a predefined dialplan. Iam trying to develop an application where asterisk dials out to a user and initiates an IVR instead (please note that the IVR is not static and may vary according to different condtions). Can someone guide me how this is possible using Asterisk. Do I need to write some sort of

How to charge for Asterisk installations and ongoing support?
Hi, I'm just wondering how other people cost/charge for * boxes they have installed in small businesses? Asterisk is such a complex beast and is capable of so much it seems equally complex to figure out a charging model!? I'm contemplating installing a pair of servers at a small company with two separate locations, one main aim is to provide a IAX link between the two but I'm sure

* Configuration
Hi, I am a beginner to Asterisk. Can anybody clear my following doubts regarding the configuration needed? 1) What is the ideal system configuratin required?(like processer, RAM, h/d space etc) 2) How many connections it can handle at a time? 3) How many Virtual PBXs it can handle? 4) Whether Postgres or Mysql is best suited? 5) How many IVR's it can handle simultaneously? 6) How many

American vs English
Folks, A few people have made me aware of some omissions in my files (not my fault, they weren't in the Script from the Wiki) which I shall be tackling this weekend. Whilst I'm making the files are there any other files you want? IVR's etc. If so make sure I have a script sent by email. -- Mark Phillips, G7LTT/KC2ENI Randolph, NJ

duration of rfc2833 generated dtmf
Hi. I have a SIP provider which wants RFC2833 for the dtmfmode, however I would like to increase the duration of the tone, its pretty short and some IVR's are unhappy or don't detect it. I did poke around, but it looks like when RFC2833 is used, it actually generates rtp packets of some sort, so I have no idea how to increase that duration. Any assistance would be appreciated. -- Your

Call dies when I press *
Hi all, I've trying to fix a problem. If I'm in a call and I press the * key, the call goes silent but doesn't hang up. I need to be able to send the * key for various IVR's that I interact with. Since I thought this was related to the features.conf file, you can view it at: http://www.diehlnet.com/features.conf Any ideas are welcome. TIA, -- Mike Diehl

HOW TO make xten eyebeam incoming video start before you send yours
Sorry, I don't remember who was asking about this, but it seems that if you record a video message that contains the send video start, it will actually fire up the remote receive window. I.E. Previously I was using the recording section of voicemail to create my video IVR's. This meant that when I arrived at the section to record the message, I had already clicked send video in Xten.

parallel R?
Hi all, Lots of big IT companies are renting out their computing facilities. Amazon has one such service. In my understanding, this will dramatically improve the speed of my R program -- currently the cross validation and model selection part is the bottle neck. It take a few days to just finish optimal parameter tuning via CV. Could anybody shed some lights on this? Is it completely transparent

[VOIP-Users-Conference] Potential subject for Friday - Does the Asterisk community need a 3rd party commercial software ecosystem?
Hi BJ, Further explanation about the 3rd party ecosystem question this morning Cory Andrews from VoIP supply was on the Voip-Users conference call last week. I asked the question - how much of VoIP Supply revenue is product versus applications - he said we don't sell any services such as ITSP hosted Asterisk so I replied that wasn't what I was thinking of and gave the example of Snap
