When it works it works great. We have had a few issues lately but they were resolved fairly quickly. -Kerry _____ From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of Giridhar Reddy Bandi Sent: Thursday, March 30, 2006 8:14 AM To: asterisk-users@lists.digium.com Subject: [Asterisk-Users] How is Teliax ? There were a few issues at the beginning, but a call to them cleared it up. Email support is spotty. Sometimes great, sometimes unanswered for a while. Calling them has been the best way to get support the few times I've needed it. Darrick -- Darrick Hartman DJH Solutions, LLC http://www.djhsolutions.com

Callers tell me I sound choppy to them. Teliax origination has no problems at all strangely enough. For termination I use junction networks. No problems with choppiness even though junction networks is 3x further away from me on the internet than teliax. And I have tried all the different teliax gateways. I suspect the difference in termination may be that junction networks has better jitter buffers than teliax. -Dan

We use them for origination over IAX. At first we had callee's reporting that our voice was choppy to them, while the callee has always sounded fine on our end. I made that problem go away by introducing traffic shaping at our firewall. They have a "bug", whereby on their website you can set the codecs allowed to be used by your account, on both SIP and IAX, but that the settings to do stick. So, say, you are trying to setup your account, and you tell TelIAX not to allow ulaw. Maybe later on you do want to use ulaw, so you set your account at TelIAX to allow it, but it doesn't effect any change. ...in order to fix it you must hound their techs for a few days to reset your account. MORAL OF THE STORY: ALWAYS LEAVE EVERY CODEC _ON_ AT THE TELIAX WEBSITE. USE YOUR IAX.CONF/SIP.CONF TO NEGOTIATE THE CODEC. I recommend them, just not their codec selection website interface, which an asterisk user probably doesn't need anyways. Sincerely, Brent A. And, what does traceroute say about your connection with Teliax? I would not ride on a tracert too much. We use Teliax also and our ISP that we have at the data center switched there backbones around the same time Teliax where doing there upgrades. We started seeing some call issues and when we did a tracert we started getting some dropped tracert responses on our ISP new backbone(Time Warner) when our ISP investigated it Time Warner responded that tracerts get a VERY low priority on their routers and that is why we where seeing these drops. Once Teliax did whatever their last change was fixed all of our issue and we have not see any call issue in the last 2-3 weeks. Still see drops on the traces. I would look more at the latency and for dropped packets if you do a continues ping with setting the size to something other then default and see if you get any dropped packets or high latency. -----Original Message----- From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of Michael Welter Sent: Friday, March 31, 2006 1:34 PM To: Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion Subject: Re: [Asterisk-Users] Re: How is Teliax ?
