Haven't had any problems as of yet (knock on wood). Dell SC420 TE110P 2x40 GB SATA drive in a RAID 1 setup (Linux 2.6 kernel needed for SATA drives; turn off RAID detection in BIOS). Debian Sarge 2.6.11.11 Kernel Card in lower PCI slot (http://lists.digium.com/pipermail/asterisk-users/2005-May/108354.html) Hope this helps
Hi Jyran -> Has anyone attempted or have had any issues getting Asterisk and > Digium > cards working on a Dell SC420 server?Yes. One of our offices has an SC420 running Tao Linux and Asterisk (CVS HEAD), using a Digium TDM400 (TDM04B). It works pretty well, for the most part. Just so you know, Digium doesn't recommend using this server (or a number of others from Dell). I think this is mainly because you can't choose IRQ's in the BIOS, and your Digium card may end up sharing an IRQ with an onboard device like the ethernet interface or the disk controller. To get around this, you can usually switch your Digium card to another open PCI slot. There may be other reasons that Digium doesn't recommend using Dell servers. You might want to ask them. - Noah

There is also some meaning to the 2nd digit that inferred PCI2.1 and PCI2.2 but I don't recall what the "formula" is. Maybe someone else knows. For the record, I have an 1400SC which performs flawlessly for everything _except_ asterisk as I can't get my X100P not to share. For general purpose computing I am a huge Dell fan on quality, performance and price point but this disappoints me. -- David Cook
