You might try IAXComm. It's a bit immature but works fairly well on Windows, and is cross-platform as well. However, I've found SIP clients to be better generally and better supported. A search for 'Windows IAX Softphone' turns up about 5 of them, as well as the wiki page which lists more. Peter -- Peter Bowyer Email: peter@bowyer.org Tel: +44 1296 768003 VoIP: sip:peter@bowyer.org
Try DIAX. Works just fine! http://www.laser.com/dante/diax/diax.html ________________________________ From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of Jeromy Grimmett Sent: Monday, May 23, 2005 12:09 PM To: 'Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion' Subject: [Asterisk-Users] Windows IAX Softphone Is there a softphone for windows that supports IAX? FireFly is the best of the IAX softphones. Other softphones do not work as good as FireFly. DIAX has many bugs still. DIAX Softphone disconnects with Windows DLL errors everytime there is a problem in the call like Asterisk Channel Not available etc. Seshu _____ From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of Adam Robins Sent: Monday, May 23, 2005 5:11 PM To: jeromy@voipempire.com; Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion Subject: RE: [Asterisk-Users] Windows IAX Softphone Try DIAX. I agree Firefly is the best. Most of the others I have tried just plain suck, especially for non technical users. The interface is structured like a typical IM client and most people find it easy to understand. Chris
I disagree, I use iaxphone from here: http://www.sokol-associates.com/IaxPhone.htm I have found it to be more stable than firefly, and it has multiple lines. The retransmissions are not handled correctly, leading to lost singalling and hence lost calls. All the problems went away when we started using iaxclient-based softphones such as iaxcomm. Peter
Go give idefisk a try (and let us know how you like it). http://www.asteriskguru.com/idefisk_beta.html A new version will be online tomorrow. Joachim. Terry H.
