Hello- I've got some audio CDs that I'd like to use for MOH. What's the best way to do this? I don't care if it's mp3 or some other format - whatever will work best. What applications (osx or linux) are best? Optimal settings? Thanks- Tom
Tom: I downloaded this freeware @ http://www.eusing.com/ (free CD to MP3). It converted my CD (CDA tracks) to MP3. Copied them onto my * server mohmp3 dir. You will need mpg123 for moh. I downloaded the rpm and installed. Everthing worked the first time I set it up. Gary P. Try cdparanoia, here is an example how to use it: rip song from a CD use (as ROOT): cdparanoia -Q #to list the song on the CD cdparanoia 1 song.wav #example of copying a song -- #Joseph On Fri, 2004-12-10 at 10:00 -0800, Thomas Johnson wrote:> Hello- > > I've got some audio CDs that I'd like to use for MOH. > > What's the best way to do this? I used existing mp3s and recoded them using lame to mono, 32kbps or thereabouts.> -----Original Message----- > From: Thomas Johnson [mailto:tj@terramar.net] > Sent: Friday, December 10, 2004 12:01 PM > To: Asterisk-Users@lists.digium.com > Subject: [Asterisk-Users] Ripping CD audio for MOH > > > Hello- > > I've got some audio CDs that I'd like to use for MOH. > > What's the best way to do this? Brian, Can you then please expound on the best way to go about getting MOH setup with the files. I'm not known for being eloquent... because I don't beat around the bush. :P (some might get this joke) This is why I don't really think MP3's are the answer: http://bugs.digium.com/bug_view_page.php?bug_id=0002639 bkw PS: Our company is the one that wrote that patch.> -----Original Message----- > From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users- > bounces@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of Jay Milk > Sent: Friday, December 10, 2004 3:32 PM > To: 'Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion' > Subject: RE: [Asterisk-Users] Ripping CD audio for MOH > > Thanks for the very eloquent reply. Thomas Johnson wrote:> Hello- > > I've got some audio CDs that I'd like to use for MOH.I just thought I'd point this out seeing as no one else has. It is illegal to use an artist's music for music on hold without the copyright holders permission. You can download royalty-free music from various sources on the web. Buying a CD does not give you ownership of the copyright for it, and most licences to use CD's are for personal listening pleasure only. If you are going to use a CD/song in a commercial setting, the least you can do is send the artist an anonymous payment for his/her services. -- Cheers, Matt Riddell _______________________________________________ http://www.sineapps.com/news.php (Daily Asterisk News - html) http://www.sineapps.com/rssfeed.php (Daily Asterisk News - rss)
