I just bought two new Linksys WRT54G routers. Sveasoft has loaded Linux on this router and included a bunch of Linux tools, one of which is Bandwidth Management. The QoS aspect of this is supposed to be much more granular than the previous solution (Wonder Shaper). I have not been able to find any suggestions for how to impliment QoS (Bandwidth Management) using the web interface of Alchemy. Do any of you have experience or ideas on this? Failing specific experience, which ports should I give high priority to? Do I need to give any IP high priority other than my Asterisk server? My Linux box's only purpose is to run Asterisk, so could I not simply say "any thing that comes from this IP box is highest priority." Thanks, George

Is this still free under GNU or is there a charge for it now? Seshu Kanuri -------------------------------------------------------- NOTICE: If received in error, please destroy and notify sender. Thanks for the link. Tell me which one can get me access to the LinkSys Linux using SSH? Does Satori has this feature? I am not so concerned with Voice Shaping and QOS at this time, but more interested in converting this into a Linux box that is accessible from an ssh client. Steve ------------------------------------- $20.00 for GNUed "hackware" that is originally freely donated by LinkSys? No way. How much did I pay for Asterisk? Was it $20 grand? Don't remember having paid that much for Asterisk. If not SSH what other way can we access Linksys Linux without Alchemy wrapper sftp/rlogin/telnet? Does anyone know? I am not so concerned with Voice Shapingyah it has ssh, but if all you want is more of a linux box then suggest you look at the openwrt.org, they have a writeable file system on the flash & not this nvram setting stuff for chgs They have also started posting snapshots so you dont have to install the toolchain any more http://openwrt.org/downloads/snapshots

However I am not able to login into this box using SSH and the 'admin' default password that comes with the router. WRT 54G does not need a Login. It has a password only to be entered on the web GUI screen. I presume the default is 'admin' as login. Does Satori setup a separate admin login/pass to get into the Box? Any tips are appreciated. Greg Wrote /SNIP/ Everyone wins from this, and Sveasoft has a revenue stream that allows them to keep focused development on improving the firmware. I have over 60 of the WRT54GS units in production and I run Sveasoft firmware on every single one of them. It is so far ahead of Linksys's internal builds and adds so many additional features that there is no comparison between the two. "Hackware" indeed. What an insult to all of the quality developers that are putting their time and effort into extending the platform and making it one of the most incredible sub $100 routing platforms on the planet. /SNIP/ That is not the issue here. The point is whether Sveasoft can charge $20.00 to release the source code that is acquired originally under GNU. By the way have if you have paid $20.00 for each of your routers, you are paying 1/3rd of the cost of the router itself for this "upgrade". /Snip/ one of the most incredible sub $100 routing platforms on the planet. /snip/ Really? I have installed satori on my WRT 54G and it disconnects my Vonage and Packet8 phones after 30 seconds of activity. It also shuts down my Asterisk Server on Fedora Core2 if I put it on the same network. I have not found out the causes yet but I don't think Sveasoft is there yet. -------------------------------------------------------- NOTICE: If received in error, please destroy and notify sender.
