asterisk users - Oct 2004 - SMS in the U.S.

A potential client wants to integrate cell phones into his PBX offering.

Is anyone able to exchange messages between an * system and a mobile 
phone?  Which gateway are you using and what are the charges?  Do you 
use app_SMS?

I know this can be done because I'm receiving spam SMS on my cell phone.

Are you aware that most cell phone providers support email to SMS
gateways. I know my AT&T email to SMS is really fast. Sub 10 second
delivery, usually under 3 seconds.
