Hello everyone.... Searching the archives and google always comes up with entries regarding the "dyn" dns option in the 7960, but I can't find answers to my specific question.... My 7960 is connected via cable modem and is NAT'ed (everything is working fine). On the 7960 under SIP configuration\NAT Address I have the public IP of my cable connection. Comcast gives me a dynamic IP so if it changes, the connection to the * server is broken until I find out what my new IP is and correct the NAT Address in the phone. I see the configuration field in the phone called dyn_dns_addr_1 and _2, is there a way to have the phone register with a DNS server or a dynamic DNS service to register it's dynamic IP and set * to the phone's host and domain name? Thanks, Marty

(Optional) IP address of a new dynamic DNS server. If a new DNS server address is specified, it is used for any further DNS requests after the phone uses the initial DNS address upon bootup. The DNS addresses are used in the following order: 1. dyn_dns_addr_1 (if present) 2. dyn_dns_addr_2 (if present) 3. DNS Server 1 4. DNS Server 2 5. DNS Server 3 6. DNS Server 4 7. DNS Server 5 The dynamic DNS address is not stored in flash memory. Only dotted IP addresses are accepted. This value can be cleared by removing it from the configuration file or by changing its value to a null value ? ? or to ?UNPROVISIONED.? Note The dynamic DNS address is not stored in flash memory.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to accomplish a dynamic dns registration without relying on a PC to do it? My router (Dell TrueMobile 2300) doesn't seem to offer this feature either. Marty
I can't think of any router that supports this.... You could put it in as a request to www.sveasoft.com for their firmware for the wrt54g (great box...runs linux and lots of features and functionality). I had a Netgear WGR614 802.11g Wireless Router for a short time period, it did support automatic dyndns updates, which was very handy. It was very common junk router feature (and by junk I mean anything you can buy at Staples that claims to be a router). Daryl
Eats humble pie!! I'd never seen it in the settings and sure enough it's there. Sorry for misguiding.
