Hello to everybody,
does anybody knows how to install Asterisk on a Linksys WRT54G(S)?
I had read in the Wiki that it is possible.

How can I use my regular phones with Asterisk running on my Linksys WRT54G router?
Ok, I've done some more research and I don't think I want an FXO box...
What I'd like to do is use BroadVoice (with their BYOD plan) and then
run Asterisk on my WRT54G router. I'd also like to use my regular home
phones without having to use a special "SIP" phone... (eg. I like my
Vtech normal cordless phones)
What do I need to buy to get this working? It sounds like I need to
purchase a "Zaptel" interface card, but of course I can't...

Slashdot on WRT54G
Did anyone see the article?
It''s the first time I really noticed that these little Linksys routers
are such a fully fledged linux machine with a decent processor and a
replacable firmware. I am now itching to get one to replace the
multipurpose firewall desktop machine.
Has anyone experimented with the current state of the firmware and how
advanced you can get with tc rules? For

looking for input on broadband router with QoS and VPN support
...s fine, i don't need integrated dsl or
cable modem...
I've been googling and cruising the list and can find bits and pieces
(some using vpn, many using qos), but not a whole lot of anything on
folks that are using voip over qos over vpn
So far i've come up with this list:
Linksys WRT54G(S) running Sveasoft
Linksys WRV54G (stock)
Draytek 2900
m0n0wall on a Soekris 4801
I do want a small fanless box b/c this will be the primary access router
for the remote user (including when they are just at home surfing). I
like the soekris because i can have a 'work' interface and a...

Incoming Call Problem
Hello All,
I would be grateful for some help with this issue. I have gotten Asterisk
to work with Broadvoice on outgoing calls only. When I try to call my
Broadvoice number from another location I get a caller is busy message. My
Asterisk box is behind a Linksys WRT54G. Could this be the problem? On the
Linksys, I have port 5060 forwarded to the asterisk box 192.168.1.2. I have
tried not using the Asterisk box as the SIP server and put in Broadvoice
settings directly into my Grandstream Budgetone 101 and I can make and
receive calls. I am totally baffled as I...

Unable to connect to Asterisk? (simple[?] question)
I'm trying to setup Asterisk on my Linksys WRT54G router and it
appears to startup successfully (no errors) and it says it is
listening on 0.0.0.0 port 5060, but I am unable to connect to it.
I've tried "telnet localhost 5060" but it just says connection
refused. I've also tried connecting from another machine on my

7960 Dynamic DNS?
Hello everyone....
Searching the archives and google always comes up with entries regarding
the "dyn" dns option in the 7960, but I can't find answers to my
specific question....
My 7960 is connected via cable modem and is NAT'ed (everything is
working fine). On the 7960 under SIP configuration\NAT Address I have

Cable Modem and Bridging
I''m not subscribed to the users list but I''ve been reading the archives. The
OP should NOT try using bridging with either FC 3 or FC 4 at this time
because the combination of Netfilter and bridging is currently broken in the
kernel''s included with those distros (as reported in another thread on the
list).

Questions from a total beginner
...anding that would enable communication via the net to and from my location and the city where the second * server would be located, thus eliminating any long distance charges for calls between the two locations.
I have two PC's that I want to network together using Linksys 802.11g gear (WRT54G ap/router & a WMP54G PCI card in my * server). My main machine is an XP. The one I am planning to use for the * server has an AMD 500 processor; 64mb ram; and 30+ gb of hard drive available. I've downloaded the RH9 iso files to install Linux on the proposed server. I also have one phone...

Easiest (best?) linux distribution for dedicated Asterisk box?
First off, I'm sorry for sending so many messages to the list-serv.
Hopefully this will be my last for a while!
I was going to use my WRT54G router as a small Asterisk box, but I
forgot that I had a spare eMachines computer (Intel Celeron 633 MHz,
20GB HD, 64mb RAM). Will this machine work OK for a very simple
dedicated home Asterisk box?
Also, what is easiest linux distribution to use and install? All I
want is a simple Asterisk box...

Double NAT issues with SIP and workaround (?)
...ith private IP, and interesting ports forwarded to it.
* Several extensions, some local some remote
The problem:
* External extensions behind double nat don't get audio when they
initiate a call. But if the extension receives the call, there is no
problem.
The fix:
* Get a Linksys WRT54G, and setup the adsl router in bridge mode,
giving the public IP address to the WRT.
* Setup port forwarding and QoS (optional)
* Enjoy VoIP ;)
I don't know the exact reasons why this happens, but it works ;).
Julian.

Will 200KB/s drive access be OK for voicemailstorage?
...l will
provide some caching (since you have G and not GS it has less ram, so
maybe chaching is not an option)
Best would be to get WL-500G. It has a USB port so you can plug a USB
memory stick into it. It will be faster and will give you more storage
cheaper then SD.
