I have a question hoping someone can help me with. I just purchased a 350 from http://lktelecom.zoovy.com/product/HPT350. I have been reading some posts and heard that these phones won't work with Asterisk.. Is this true? I had a previous Nortel Phone working in this enviroment. Well anyway here's my problem. The phone keeps ringing.. It won't stop.. Which makes the phone unusable... Help me please. Geoff
> here's my problem. The phone keeps ringing.. It won't > stop.. Which makes the phone unusable... Help me please.Like a continuous, non-stop RIIIIIIIIIIIING kinda thing? or a regular ring cycle (2 secs on, 4 secs off) that just repeats and won't stop? Does a different phone plugged in to the same port show the same symptoms? What about plugging the problem phone in to a different port or even in to a regular phone line, completely seperate from Asterisk? The PowerTouch 350 is just a regular analog phone so you should have no trouble using it with Asterisk - I'm sure someone else on the list must be using it as it's a great phone for ADSI.
If I plug a different phone in I don't have the problem. If I plug it in outside of Asterisk problem does not exist. I read a thread from Wade that most / all of the 350 phones sold are vendor specific, unless you purchase it directly from Aastra. Any thoughts.... -gcc -----Original Message----- From: asterisk-users-admin@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-admin@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of Paul Crick Posted At: Wednesday, October 29, 2003 9:41 PM Posted To: Asterisk User Group Conversation: [Asterisk-Users] Nortel PowerTouch 350 Subject: RE: [Asterisk-Users] Nortel PowerTouch 350> here's my problem. Ok... The problem is as follows... I received this phone today. I plugged it in like any other phone that has been used in the past. As soon as you plug it in and give it power - it starts with a continus ring - no pause in the ring (riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggg) or something like that. You can pick the phone up and get dial tone and make a call. But the continous ring is kind of a problem. Here is a copy of the thread wade posted earlier... ######################################################################## ### Hi All,> > > > About a week ago, I recommended a location to grab > reburbished Vista > > 350's and 390's. So why the problem when the phone's plugged in to that port? Can you elaborate on the exact problem as per my previous email:> > here's my problem. The phone keeps ringing.. It won't stop.. None of that should affect the way the phone RINGS.. _______________________________________________ Asterisk-Users mailing list Asterisk-Users@lists.digium.com http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users

But the continous ring is kind of a problem.Mine doesn't do this, the only thing I can think of is it's only an one-line phone, make sure you don't plug a phone line in the jack numbered '2', it's for daisy-chaining an fax machine.. -- Yifang Dai | eFax: (847)628-0255 | Debian GNU/Linux yifang_dai@yahoo.com | _______________________________________________ Asterisk-Users mailing list Asterisk-Users@lists.digium.com http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users
Yes... And I have tried different line cords just rull anything out.... Does this make sence why this is doing this.. Could it be the phone it self is broke? Update... Thank you for everyone that replied to this. I received a new 350 today and plugged it in... Works great. Problem appeared to be the other phone. But you said that plugging the phone in to a normal analog line from the telco worked ok? Let's just be clear on what we're saying here: If you take the phone in question and plug it in to a specific port, it rings continuously. If you plug a different phone in to the same port, the problem isn't apparent. If you play the phone in to a different port/line, the problem also isn't apparent. The problem ONLY occurs when plugging your PT350 in to a specific port? _______________________________________________ Asterisk-Users mailing list Asterisk-Users@lists.digium.com http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users
