[Asterisk-Users] Cisco 7960 SIP speed dial
I'm having great success using Cisco 7960s with Asterisk but one Cisco 7960 specific function that's puzzling me is programming the 'line buttons' (6 buttons on the upper right side of the phone) for speed dial. I'm not using any Cisco applications like Call Manager and the phones are SIP. *All* of the documentation I've found over the last several days continues to refer to Cisco Call Manager specific configuration. Has anyone had any success configuring the buttons for this purpose, in these condidtions? Thanks, Steve Bourg Email: darius@bourg.net
Go into the SIP Configuration menu and tweak each line setting as you wish. Yes and no. When configured as a skinny phone, the buttons can be either an extension, or a programmable speed-dial. I haven't seen anything in the Cisco SIP firmware documentation that lists the ability to add speed dials, and looking at the provided configuration samples, it is likely not an available feature even on the latest firmware. (4-04-00). Does Asterisk support PLAR configurations? If so each button could be assigned a login in a different context, with that context set to dial the desired number (yes, hackish). Those are line/account buttons. The 7960 is supposed to be like a 6 line telephone, and you are selecting which line to dial out on.
