Hello, I have fitted a linear model containing one ordered factor with the "lm" function, so R uses polynomial contrasts for it. When I view the summary, the polynomial components of this factor are displayed. In the anova(...) table, however, the factor just gets one line. In S-Plus (3.4 on Unix, I looked up the manual), I can have the Sum of Squares split into the polynomial components by using the "split=" argument to summary.aov(). In R (as of V. 1.11), this feature seems to be missing. Is this deliberate (are there reasons for the omission), or is it just not (yet) implemented? If the latter is the case, does anybody have a formula to calculate the split "by hand"? Or is there another R function for this purpose that I overlooked?
