Dear R-help list subscribers, at "Digital Chart of the World", http://ortelius.maproom.psu.edu/dcw/, map data for use with Arc/INFO and ArcView can be retrieved. Following a recent thread on the use of maps in R-help, do you know if and how this data could be used with R (under Linux or Windows)? I am looking for a way to show a map (of Germany) with symbols of different size (like a SAS bubble plot) showing certain cities associated with different values of a variable. Or this there another way (data) to produce such a plot?
