Sorry if this was answered before. It''s hard to figure out what keywords to use in order to narrow the search. I''m looking into running Solaris 10 as a guest under an OpenSolaris dom0 host. Is this feasible, and if so, can someone point me to the best "howto" to reduce the frustration level? Otherwise, is there a better host OS to do this under? Thanks, Gary This message posted from opensolaris.org

You need to use a S10 CD and an ''HVM'' run of virt-install to install it, and it requires an HVM machine. See the docs on our opensolaris site regards john

Currently there are no guest drivers available for any OS that could potentially help glitches or other virtualization ailments. Efficiency wise, VMware is still marginally a better performer across different hardware, with some rare occasions in which xVM (Xen) can deliver close performance. This is just a personal observation, try it if you like, but make sure you keep your OpenSolaris machine on the most current build when you notice major Xen features coming down the pipeline, so things are fixed, and you have a more pleasant experience. In mentioned sample "-f" points to zfs file system. It''s not neccessary . It may be just ordinary file, for examle # dd if=/dev/zero of= /export/home/guests/solarais0807.img \ bs=1024k count=20000> reduce the frustration level?
