Well i''m having a go at the xen idea. I used your wiki or at least i think its the xen wiki! http://www.virtuatopia.com/index.php/Building_a_Xen_Virtual_Guest_Filesystem_on_a_Disk_Image_%28Cloning_Host_System%29 it is pretty good, the errors at the end were the some of the bugs that I ended up with and they fixed those problems. The bit I found confusing was about editing files, it was a bit ambiguous where the file were and some of the stuff i added to the cfg file I ended up duplicating as it was repeated lower down in the cfg file. Me being lazy but im sure others will do the same. Generally impressed though. I am still getting boot problems though still. Unable to load SELinux Policy. Machine is in enforcing mode. Halting now. Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init! I have attached the boot output and the cfg file if you need them Alex _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
I''ve solved the problem by turning SELinux to passive mode, so my img now boots. On Tue, Jul 13, 2010 at 9:21 AM, Alex Edwards <edwards.alex@gmail.com>wrote:> Well i''m having a go at the xen idea. My guest OS wont talk to the outside world. Its sitting on a different subnet to dom0 so i have followed the page telling me to rename the vim to xenbr0 but it doenst exist and gives such and error when i try to start the guest. I read in an archive that this had been changed to my default network name eth0 so i tried that and it just hangs after the reading from cfg line. I have turned off selinux and iptables in dom0 and guest os to remove them as possible problems. thanks ALex On Tue, Jul 13, 2010 at 10:08 AM, Alex Edwards <edwards.alex@gmail.com>wrote:> I''ve solved the problem by turning SELinux to passive mode, so my img now > boots. > > > > On Tue, Jul 13, 2010 at 9:21 AM, Alex Edwards <edwards.alex@gmail.com>wrote: > >> Well i''m having a go at the xen idea. hello all, ive been at this problem all day and i still have not got any closer to the solution. I have a guest os running but i cant bridge the netowrk connection so i have internet access for my guests. All works as expected on the host os. As far as i can tell the network is not being bridged by Dom0. i have no peth0, xenbr0 when i run ifconfig -a in the guest os if i uncomment the vif = [ '' '' ] i get an error when i try to run it Error: Errors were found at line 47 while processing /etc/xen/XenGuest1.cfg: if i try and use the gui the bridge physical device option is blanked out and says eth0 not bridged when i try and select it.
