Greetings! I am trying to setup iSCSI target on XCP and find only initiator files that comes default with xcp installation. I found this from the mailing list http://www.performancemagic.com/iscsi-xen-howto/iSCSI.html#id2471464 for xen-iscsi, is there any post for xcp-iscsi specific installation? Also I need to know if its possible to have XCP on top of Ubuntu 9.10 or CentOS to have full linux support ? Thank you, Vern for your reply, XCP repo does not have iscsitarget packages, it has only initiators packages and when tried to install the iscsitarget rpm packages from internet, it complained about the missing dependencies. So please suggest how I can resolve this issue. -----Original Message----- From: Vern Burke [mailto:vburke@skow.net] Sent: Thursday, February 04, 2010 3:06 PM To: Sanjay Baberwal Subject: Re: [Xen-users] xcp-iscsi howto What''s not "full" about XCP''s Linux? Unless you''re talking about running a whole bunch of non-XCP related stuff too, which is the wrong idea, in my opinion. I rather suspect if you download Xen, the xapi source, and all the approriate patches, you might be able to compile it all on a different base distro. Hi, Vern is right -- XCP is supposed to be a minimal ''platform'', optimized for hosting VMs. In the long term we hope to shrink dom0 and put lots more stuff into helper VMs. Could you explain what you need the iscsi target for? One possibility is to put the iscsi target into a VM. Thank you Vern, Dave for your replies. Basically I want to setup a test bed where XCP hosts would have a common storage system to try out various XCP features like live migration. Since this is purely experimental, I wanted to put all components of the architecture distributed over just 3 physical systems (ie 3 XCP hosts). I like your suggestion about having iscsitarget into a VM. Hi! Wouldn''t be good to have the root file system of the XCP installed on a tiny SSD (disk on chip) of 2G as /dev/sda and export, for example, two discs (sdb and sdc) of 1T via iSCSI targets? I''m expecting the XCP dom0 with support for acting as a iSCSI targets, AoE servers and most important, software RAID available at the installation process. Cheers!
