Hello, With gentoo, I''m trying to boot linux-2.6.12.6.5-xen on xen 3.0-devel with root=/dev/md0, a RAID1 partition. Unfortunately, it breaks with: devfs_mk_dev: could not append to parent for md/0 (the actual error is 17, EEXIST, it seems md/0 already exists in devfs). The significant log lines lines I''ve got are: raid1 and raid5 personality registrations, raid5 selects its function, md driver 0.90.1 initialize, then I get NET:, input: IP: TCP: NET: lines, then the defvs_mk_def error, followed by md: autodetecting, but md: autorun finds none of my RAID partitions, then panic. When booting directly with a linux kernel, I get a Partition check: log which lists all my partitions, but that''s not the case when I boot with xen. Does xen hide the partitions from dom0? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ root (hd0,0) Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83 kernel /xen.gz dom0_mem=131072 com1=115200,8n1 [Multiboot-elf, <0x100000:0x641cc:0x27e34>, shtab=0x18c078, entry=0x100000] module /vmlinuz-2.6.12.5-xen-0 root=/dev/md0 console=tty0 console=ttyS0,115200 hdd=ide-scsi showopts debug [Multiboot-module @ 0x18d000, 0x31f07c bytes] __ __ _____ ___ _ _ \ \/ /___ _ __ |___ / / _ \ __| | _____ _____| | \ // _ \ ''_ \ |_ \| | | |__ / _` |/ _ \ \ / / _ \ | / \ __/ | | | ___) | |_| |__| (_| | __/\ V / __/ | /_/\_\___|_| |_| |____(_)___/ \__,_|\___| \_/ \___|_| http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/netos/xen University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory Xen version 3.0-devel (root@janus.infra.afaa.asso.fr) (gcc version 3.4.4 (Gentoo 3.4.4, ssp-3.4.4-1.0, pie-8.7.8)) Sun Nov 13 17:45:51 CET 2005 Latest ChangeSet: unavailable (XEN) Physical RAM map: (XEN) 0000000000000000 - 000000000009fc00 (usable) (XEN) 000000000009fc00 - 00000000000a0000 (reserved) (XEN) 00000000000f0000 - 0000000000100000 (reserved) (XEN) 0000000000100000 - 000000003fff0000 (usable) (XEN) 000000003fff0000 - 000000003fff8000 (ACPI data) (XEN) 000000003fff8000 - 0000000040000000 (ACPI NVS) (XEN) 00000000fec00000 - 00000000fec01000 (reserved) (XEN) 00000000fee00000 - 00000000fee01000 (reserved) (XEN) 00000000fff80000 - 0000000100000000 (reserved) (XEN) System RAM: 1023MB (1048124kB) (XEN) Xen heap: 10MB (10668kB) (XEN) PAE disabled.
