Hello, Has anyone had some success in running RHEL 3 (Centos 3.5) as Dom0 and/or DomU ? //// (o o) =============oOO==(_)==OOo=========== Pierre _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
Pierre Gentile wrote:> Has anyone had some success in running RHEL 3 (Centos 3.5) as Dom0 > and/or DomU?I have CentOS 3.5 running as domU with FedoraCore 4 as dom0. I am using the FC4 2.6 domU kernel and have no problems (if you need kernel modules you should get different modutils, perhaps). I have not managed to use CentOS 3.5 as dom0: a) compiling xen 2.0.6 with the 2.4 kernel resulted in a unstable and crashing system b) the pre-built version I could not use because the kernels did not contain the scsi drivers I needed You could try to use the 2.6 kernel or the unstable version with CentOS 3.5 as domU. I have not tried that. Right now I feel like going with CentOS 4 anyway. Hi I have got Centos 4.0 working as DomU and Dom0. It seems to work quite well, although I am just at the stage of giving it some real testing, but the basic install worked well. Thank you for responding so quickly I''m interested too by your answers, but what I''m looking for is an experience of using CentOS 3.5 as Dom0 If not possible, I''ll try CentOS 4.1 as Dom0 and CentOS 3.5 as DomU Regards Pierre //// (o o) =============oOO==(_)==OOo=========== Michael Paesold <mpaesold@gmx.at > Pour Envoyé par : Andrew Turnbull xen-users-bounce <abturnbull@gmail.com>, s@lists.xensourc Xen-users@lists.xensource.com e.com cc Objet 06/07/2005 10:49 Re: [Xen-users] Xen DOM0 on RHEL3 Andrew Turnbull wrote:> I have got Centos 4.0 working as DomU and Dom0. > > It seems to work quite well, although I am just at the stage of giving > it some real testing, but the basic install worked well.What version of xen did you use? 2.0.6 (stable) or unstable, pre-built or did you build from source? CentOS 4.1 is much more advanced technology and is more compatible with a 2.6 kernel. If you need the legacy compatibility of CentOS 3.5, just use it as guest domain. You don''t need it as dom0. OK, I''ll try that. Does the xen patch apply cleanly on Centos 4.1 ? Hi Could you please forward some instructions on how you achieved getting centos 3.5 as a domU, as I''ve been stuck for so long trying to get this to work. I''d appreciate your help.
