Hi, for what it''s worth: There''s now a new Live CD for Solaris called Damm Small Solaris: http://www.sunhelp.ru/archives/179-Damn_Small_Solaris_0.1.1_English_Page.html In contrast to Belenix this Live CD works in Qemu - even without kqemu load the performance is not so bad. One important missing are the network driver for the network adapter emulated by Qemu. But they should be in the next version of Damm Small Solaris. The developer is still searching a ftp site to host the image - if anybody can help him please contact him. regards Bernd -- Bernd Schemmer, Frankfurt am Main, Germany http://home.arcor.de/bnsmb/index.html M s temprano que tarde el mundo cambiar . > http://www.sunhelp.ru/archives/179-Damn_Small_Solaris_0.1.1_English_Page.htmlThat is awesome, please post about it in the more general forum/list so other people can see it :) A new OpenSolaris distro goes way beyond qemu! I think it would be really useful to share package selection information. I don''t think "the minimum number of packages to make Solaris run" is a well known thing! Maybe the developers of DSS and Nexenta can work together to make a damn small Nexenta! -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
Bernd, Very cool!! Al Hopper, who sponsors http://www.genunix.org/, is probably very open to hosting your distro, since he currently hosts or mirrors Nexenta, Bellenix, Schillix, and Indiana. -Brian P.S. - You may want to send this to a more widely scoped email alias than qemu-discuss. :) ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Bernd Schemmer <Bernd.Schemmer at gmx.de> Date: Fri, Feb 22, 2008 at 12:13 PM Subject: [qemu-discuss] Damm Small Solaris To: qemu-discuss at opensolaris.org Hi, for what it''s worth: There''s now a new Live CD for Solaris called Damm Small Solaris: http://www.sunhelp.ru/archives/179-Damn_Small_Solaris_0.1.1_English_Page.html In contrast to Belenix this Live CD works in Qemu - even without kqemu load the performance is not so bad. However, I believe that Sun may have copyright issues with the name of this distribution. In the meantime I''ll get in touch with Alexander R. Eremin directly and get more information about the software.
