First reported by a Sun blogger (http://blogs.sun.com/simons/), most of the HPC Consortium meeting in Reno presentations are now onlone: https://events-at-sun.com/hpcreno/presentations.html Some people on this list may be interested in this: "Lustre ? CFS Update, Peter Braam, CEO, Cluster File System" In Lustre 1.8, ZFS will be available as an option for the disk filesystem - Lustre servers will be in user space - will have user space ZFS code ? DMU I don''t know enough about Lustre to comment on how this is done -- any volunteers?? :-) Rayson
This sounds like the result of the FUSE-ZFS for Linux developer being hired by the Lustre folks. I''m not sure of the implications of Luster using ZFS DMU. Does this mean a subset of ZFS functionality, binary compatibility of written disks or what? You can read about it in the developer''s September blog post here: http://zfs-on-fuse.blogspot.com/2007/09/irony.html This message posted from opensolaris.org
Hi Owen, Owen Davies wrote:> I''m not sure of the implications of Luster using ZFS DMU. See this page for more information: http://arch.lustre.org/index.php?title=Feature_Lustre_ZFS One of the goals is to maintain compatibility with the existing ZFS on-disk format (ZPL format). The main reason for that goal is to provide the ability to bring down a Lustre server and be able to mount it with ZFS in case something goes wrong. I also suggest that it would be more helpful to discuss Lustre in the lustre-discuss mailing list, where many folks with Lustre knowledge hang around: http://wiki.lustre.org/index.php?title=Mailing_Lists Hope that helps, Ricardo -- <http://www.sun.com> *Ricardo Manuel Correia* Lustre Engineering *Sun Microsystems, Inc.* Portugal -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
