[Samba] Group policy modelling wizard - can I help at all?
Hi All, I?ve just been looking at getting Group Policy working - and as has already been discussed on this list: http://marc.info/?l=samba-technical&m=126750502020784&w=2 I can confirm the same error against 4.1.2. The error message in an English version of Windows 7 is: ?The domain controller you have selected does not have the RSoP planning mode functionality available. Please select a different domain controller?. Details: The RPC server is unavailable. In answer to Matthieu Patou's question in the same thread (?is it very useful??) - Yes. To say ?it?s useful? would be an enormous understatement. There are a number of rules regarding how policies are applied on a workstation and once you?ve got more than a very small number of policies, it?s very common to find they don?t work the way you?d expect them to. Group Policy Modelling takes the policies and works out how they?ll be applied to a given user/PC, producing a report that explains this. It is possible to work without it but it?s a PITA and I suspect a lot of admins would consider its absence to be a showstopper. I have the lab environment I can test this out in, but alas I don?t have the deep knowledge of AD (or for that matter Samba) necessary to implement this feature. -- Eckland-Cort Ltd T/A Bediwin Information Services Registered in England and Wales, no. 02598654 Registered office: 3 Southleigh Road, Taunton, Somerset TA1 2XZ Our Managed Workstation service deals with antivirus, backup and updates for just ?5.00/month! http://www.bediwin.co.uk/services/managed-workstations
