In my application we have several drop down lists which contain a few
hundred items. These lists are completely unmanageable by the customers
so we decided to implement a searchable dropdown list using the
scriptaculous Autocompleter. The only problem is this type of field
allows the user to type in anything they want. What I wanted was a
searchable list which does not allow the user to have anything in the
box which is not a valid choice.
For those of you who have used MS Access basically I want a dropdown
like that which lets you type in your choice but prevents typing a
character which would lead to zero valid choices.
I hacked this together on my own using scriptaculous, but I was hoping
someone had already done this better than me?
