CentOS - Jun 2007 - one application receive all key commands

Is there a way in centos 4 or 5 to have one application receive all
keyboard events - no matter what is running.

Some applications bind keys etc... and I need to get those keys no 
matter what
and not have the application see them at all.

Is there a way to do that?
