Rails - Mar 2007 - help me deploy a simple site

Hi,

I have a ROR site that I want to deploy. Its beyond me. Would there be
any kind soul on this community that would deploy it for me? Its a
very very simple application and 2 mins work for someone who knows
what he/she is doing.

Thanks in return and future paid collaborations likely for this
person.

What is it that you''re having problems with?  Given the breadth of
hosting
service offerings available, it''s very unlikely that
''it''s beyond you.''
It''s simply a matter of understanding what you know and don''t
know, and
picking a service that''s a good match for your current skill /
knowledge
level.  There are lots of folks here who can help you choose, and can help 
you learn the things you don''t already know but want to know.

A bit of friendly advice...  Estimating the effort level for work someone 
else will do is a pretty big taboo in the Agile community.  Speaking only 
for myself, I find that people, especially people who''ve never done a
thing
before, always underestimate the amount of effort required for someone else 
to do it.  I''ve been guilty of it myself in the past.

I totaly agree.

Also it isnt relevant in any manner,

If one can do a certain work within 2 minutes maybe it took hims 
months/weeks to get there, time another one isnt able/wiling to spend

So in change this 2 minutes are as expensive/valuable as a few months of 
study in the worst case, but given a salary of 60/hr and divinding it by 
60 multipliying with 2 isnt the way you will get the rate for any work 
of this length, even if its doubteble that anything can be done within 2 
minutes.

Just to answer this post took me more, and to get in contact for the 
person willing to help ya, itll impossible to hold only communication 
with you under 1 hr, my wild guess...

As a newbie (one HS C++ course 7 years ago) I can tell you that you
won''t have any trouble building the app yourself.  I don''t
know how
many free hours each day you have, but if you buy the agile book (I
started on it 4 days ago) you will probably be able to build the app
you want (if it''s really as simply as you think it is) in literally a
week.  You may not understand everything, what''s doing what, but you
will probably be able to find your way through it.  Then when you get
stuck, come on these boards.  You''ll probably have better luck this
way, rather than trying to find someone to give up $65-100Hr. in
exchange for your laziness.  :)

And why don''t you describe what you want the app to do?

I use hostingrails.com and some of this might be specific to them, but
it still clarifies the steps needed to manually deploy.
